fat freeWhy don’t we recommend fat-free items? A little bit of fat is necessary – especially in dairy products, to help digestion and absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K). Unfortunately, many fat-free packaged foods have had excess sweeteners, salt, and other food additives added in order to produce a product that tastes like the original. Low-fat dairy is often a healthy choice, and even though it contains some fat, it is lower in unhealthy saturated fat.

Why do women have so many knee problems?  It’s because of our Q-angle and is all tied to child birth.  The very best thing you can do for your knees is to keep the muscles around your knees strong and in balance and watch your weight (according to the American Physical Therapy Assoc).

One key to successful workouts is keeping well hydrated before, during and after exercise. The length of your workouts, heat, humidity and the amount you sweat are all major considerations for keeping your body in proper fluid balance.

  • Drink 1-2 cups of fluid 30 minutes before exercise
  • Drink ½ – 1 cup of fluid for every 15 minutes of exercise
  • Replenish fluids lost (2 ½ cups for every pound lost during exercise)
  • Keep drinking even after your thirst is quenched

  1. Is your meal plan balanced? For the most optimal health benefit, you want to strike a balance. Each meal should contain a healthy balance of protein, fat, and carbohydrate. If your meal plan is good, fiber intake will be either at or above the recommended daily amount of for women.
