When it comes to planning a wedding, one thing’s for sure: there’s a lot of partying. And, it’s not JUST on your wedding day. There’s the engagement party, the bridal shower (often more than one), a bachelorette party, all the menu tasting...combine that with life’s normal holiday celebrations and party foods become your weekly menu. If you’re trying to lose weight and stay healthy, that can be a big problem.
When it comes to Valentine’s Day, you don’t have to make food center stage, there are so many other ways to make the day feel special.
For the Adventurer:
Take a walk, a hike, or a bike ride. The time alone with your honey will give you the chance to connect. Plus, exercising together raises feel good endorphins and makes you feel more bonded.
For the Jet-setter:
Plan a local weekend getaway to one of the beautiful coastal islands surrounding Washington, head to Canada or to Oregon on a road trip. Pack healthy snacks for the journey, and don’t forget to make a few romantic playlists to play as a soundtrack along the way.
For the Life-long Learner:
Learn something new. Sign up for a cooking or dance class together. Learning the tango or making a gourmet meal together can inspire new found interest and keep you from feeling stagnant and getting bored in your relationship and in your life.
For the Homebody:
Staying home can be as romantic as going out. Lay out a picnic blanket in your living room, cook a healthy meal at home, light candles and a fire. Rent your favorite movie, or just spend time snuggling. You’d be surprised how refreshing it can be to stay in rather than pay for an overpriced, set menu at a swanky Valentine’s hot spot.
You see? There are plenty of options for Valentine’s Day that will have you feeling less stressed, more healthy, and more in love than ever. Now that’s what being a healthy bride is really all about.
