People often ask me, "Why should I do yoga?". I usually respond with a simple answer, "It makes you feel good". While that isn't the whole story, it's true for everyone. Yoga is relaxing, energizing, strengthening, and calming. After a yoga session, you feel better than when you began. You gain peace of mind, enthusiasm for life and an overall sense of well-being.
As you practice yoga regularly, this sense of feeling good gradually becomes pervasive and carries over into the whole of your life. You learn to stay calm in stressful situations and act with balance in difficult times. This is why I started teaching yoga to brides. One of the most stressful and challenging times in a woman's life is the engagement period. A bride is faced with planning a wedding, juggling other's expectations, and managing a group of vendors who will execute a variety of tasks according to a strict timeline.
Brides who practice yoga consistently in the months prior to the wedding feel a sense of calm control, act with patience, and are able to make decisions with a clear mind. The day of the wedding, the yoga sessions pay off when the bride is able to walk down the aisle with a tranquil mind and a deep knowing that no matter what happens, this is the best day of her life.
